Blogging Tips For Beginners 3

Before we move to todays topic of discussion, I would like to say a few things about setting up a blog. Why am I bordering myself so much on this.

Well because I realized that as a prospective professional blogger you actually need to have basic knowledge of how to set up a blog even if you're not going to need it or you have someone who sets it up for you already.

You must still be able to set up your own blog without the help of anybody, this gives you the option of tweaking it to any extent you want.

The naked truth is, not all hosting sites will help you set up your blog free of charge and if they do they'll probably charge exorbitant fees which you might not be able to afford.

So first thing you need to do in order to set up a blog will be;

1. Purchase a hosting service from an hosting sites, it's better you purchase 1 year and above hosting service than monthly because the longer the years the better. Some of the sites always provide free 1 year domain name when you buy an hosting service from them.

2. Once you purchase a hosting plan, I'll use Ipage for instance because I use Ipage and they've made it so easy to install the wordpress plugin. You'll be given an account which comes with a password and username. Login with the password and username and inside your account, Look for the wordpress icon double click on it and follow some other simple steps. Simple!

3. The next thing you want to do is get a good theme whether free or premium doesn't matter as far as it is classy!

Getting a quality theme for your blog is not something you should underestimate as a blog with a great theme actually suggest that you are a professional blogger. It's gives your readers the impression that you actually know what you're doing.

The internet especially blogging is too competitive these days as there are so many established blogs as yours in the same niche. So you've got to be at your game, although something quite simple is okay but at least add some style to it!

It's always good if you have a cool theme you can tweak anytime like the background, colours, text, text-font, sidebars, header, etc without ever being a programmer or learning html at all! Fantastic isn't it?

That's not all, this theme also has powerful inbuilt Seo features. It's gives you the opportunity of optimizing all the post and pages on your blog for search engine exposure.

That theme is called "thesis". A brilliant work of Chris Pearson. Go get yours now!

Now your blog is all set up! Time to go and get traffic, just as it is commonly said that "a site without traffic is a site without life". You need to bring in life to your blog that's your readers, they are the "lifeline" of any site. They determine the success of your blogging career!

4. Traffic; Although I wouldn't want to discuss in details as there are so many ways of getting free traffic these days, all I'll do is list all the traffic opportunities that I can remember. They are;

i. Seo

ii. Submit articles to article directories

iii. Guest-posting

iv. Posting Comments

v. Press release

vi. Podcasting

vii. Rss feeds
