How does this thing called facebook work? You will need to sign up as a member after which you can begin to use the system. As a member of facebook you get to create a profile page.
The profile page displays information about friends, acquaintances and business associates.
Facebook users create a profile page that displays their friends and networks information about themselves. The option to include a profile in a network implies that everyone within that network can view the profile.
The profile typically includes the following: A welcome message, Status, Friends, Friends in Other Networks, photographs, Notes, Groups, Wall, application, Events, marketplace, and many more other features.
Facebook Users can lookup for friends and business associates by email address, school, university, by just typing in a name of an individual or his location.
When people become friends, they are capable of seeing all of each others profiles including private informations like contact information, date of birth, pictures, etc.
Automated email notifications let users of facebook know when new friends have been added to their list or when individual has just sent a message to them within the system.
There are numerous applications available to add to a profile. They ambit from a list of Top Friends to movie compatibility with other people, and maps of where users have travelled.
